Teaching notes for dividing by 5
If it ends in 0 or 5, it divides by 5. Nothing else needs checking. That check tells a child whether a number belongs on this sheet at all, which is a different skill from recalling the quotient. Clock faces. 5 × 7 is where the 7 sits on a clock, which is 35 minutes. Many children meet the 5s here before they meet them in maths.
