What Makes the 2 Times Table Different
The pattern. Every answer in the 2s is even, and every answer is just the number doubled. If a child can double, they already know this table.
The shortcut. Say the number twice and add. 2 × 7 is 7 + 7. Doubling is the same skill they use to split a snack fairly, so it arrives early and sticks.
The fact that stays slow. 2 × 7 = 14 and 2 × 9 = 18 lag slightly. Doubling into the teens is a beat slower than doubling to a landmark like 10 or 20.
Learn this first. Adding a number to itself within 20. If 8 + 8 is still slow, the 2s will be slow too.

Turnaround Facts
Turnaround facts use the commutative property: 2 × 8 is the same product as 8 × 2. This matters because kids often learn a table in order, then freeze when the same fact appears backward in a mixed quiz.
After this page feels easy, go back to the main times tables practice hub and mix the 2s with nearby tables.
