Teaching notes for addition to 10
Sums within 10 come before anything that crosses a ten, so most children work straight down the sheet. Counting on fingers is normal at this stage and worth leaving alone.
How to use this sheet
- 1. Solve the problem printed inside each region of the picture.
- 2. Find that answer in the color key at the top of the sheet.
- 3. Color the region with the crayon next to it. Each swatch also carries a letter code, so the sheet still works printed in black and white.
The picture only comes out right if the facts were answered right, which is the point: a guessed answer shows up as a wrong color instead of disappearing into a page of ticks.
