8 Times Table Color by Number Worksheet

Every region on this picture carries one 8 times table fact. Every answer is even, and each is double the matching 4s fact. 8 × 6 is double 4 × 6. A child has to recall the answer before they know which crayon a region takes, so the coloring rewards the retrieval instead of replacing it. 8 × 7 = 56 and 8 × 6 = 48, the same pair that troubles the 6s and 7s. If a child owns these two, the hard corner is done.

Teaching notes for 8 times table

Halve, times ten, then adjust. Easier in practice: double three times. 8 × 7 is 7 to 14 to 28 to 56. Watch which regions your child leaves until last: they are almost always the facts that still need counting. The 4s. Three doublings only works if the first two are automatic.

How to use this sheet

  • 1. Solve the problem printed inside each region of the picture.
  • 2. Find that answer in the color key at the top of the sheet.
  • 3. Color the region with the crayon next to it. Each swatch also carries a letter code, so the sheet still works printed in black and white.

The picture only comes out right if the facts were answered right, which is the point: a guessed answer shows up as a wrong color instead of disappearing into a page of ticks.

After the 8 times table sheet

A coloring sheet is deliberate, slow practice — good for a first pass and for the facts that are still shaky. Recall speed comes from short repeated retrieval, so pair it with a few minutes of online practice rather than another sheet.
