Use the chart as a reference, then cover it before practicing. The memorization happens when the answer is retrieved, not when it is copied from the chart.
What Makes the 8 Times Table Different
The pattern. Every answer is even, and each is double the matching 4s fact. 8 × 6 is double 4 × 6.
The shortcut. Halve, times ten, then adjust. Easier in practice: double three times. 8 × 7 is 7 to 14 to 28 to 56.
The fact that stays slow. 8 × 7 = 56 and 8 × 6 = 48, the same pair that troubles the 6s and 7s. If a child owns these two, the hard corner is done.
Learn this first. The 4s. Three doublings only works if the first two are automatic.

Turnaround Facts
Turnaround facts use the commutative property: 8 × 7 is the same product as 7 × 8. This matters because kids often learn a table in order, then freeze when the same fact appears backward in a mixed quiz.
After this page feels easy, go back to the main times tables practice hub and mix the 8s with nearby tables.
