Teaching notes for 7 times table

Break the number apart. 7 × 8 is 5 × 8 = 40 plus 2 × 8 = 16, which is 56. Splitting into 5s and 2s works for every 7s fact. Watch which regions your child leaves until last: they are almost always the facts that still need counting. The 5s and the 2s, because splitting is the only shortcut the 7s offer.
