Teaching notes for 12 times table
Split into 10 and 2 every time. Children who know this split can rebuild any 12s fact in about two seconds, even before it is automatic. Watch which regions your child leaves until last: they are almost always the facts that still need counting. The 10s and the 2s, and adding two-digit numbers in your head.
How to use this sheet
- 1. Solve the problem printed inside each region of the picture.
- 2. Find that answer in the color key at the top of the sheet.
- 3. Color the region with the crayon next to it. Each swatch also carries a letter code, so the sheet still works printed in black and white.
The picture only comes out right if the facts were answered right, which is the point: a guessed answer shows up as a wrong color instead of disappearing into a page of ticks.
