Every region on this picture carries one 4 times table fact. Every answer is even, and every answer is a double of the matching answer in the 2s. 4 × 6 is double 2 × 6. Double, then double again. 4 × 7 is 7 doubled to 14, doubled again to 28. Two easy steps beat one hard fact. Watch which regions your child leaves until last: they are almost always the facts that still need counting. The 2s, held firmly. Double-double falls apart if the first double is slow.
